During an art history lesson students were asked to do a tree map to see the past influence of previous artists. The idea was to see which artists had influenced the next. Even today I explained that artists pass down their knowledge and there is a linage. Since the students have studied under me they are now a part of the lineage of all the artist of whom I have studied. Their references included not only artist in history books but also artists I have mentioned from my own past.
